A Plain View

Daniel Day-Lewis is brutally good. There Will Be Blood he is probably the best work he's ever done. And its definitely PTA's best film. Will there be better? I don't know if it matters....

MOONBASE

I've tried the new moon tilted in the air
Above a hazy tree-and-farmhouse cluster
As you might try a jewel in your hair.
I've tried it fine with little breadth of luster,
Alone, or in one ornament combining
With one first-water start almost shining.

I put it shining anywhere I please.
By walking slowly on some evening later,
I've pulled it from a crate of crooked trees,
And brought it over glossy water, greater,
And dropped it in, and seen the image wallow,
The color run, all sorts of wonder follow.
-Robert Frost - The Freedon of the Moon

Igor the Black Frog

I was up in Seattle right after New Years and got to see this guy do some live digital painting. He's basically nasty. And this is how he really dresses. He jumped up on stage at one point and modeled for a bit. Here's what I came up with.

Strange

Here's a bit of reality comics for you. This is what happens when you work out of a home studio. Things get nuts.

I'M HERE HUCKLEBERRY

This is another piece that was started for a client and finished for fun. Its all about the China-esque carbon emissions coming off his smoke wagon.

HEY MAN, COME CRAWL THROUGH MY HOLE!

I’d crawl through. You never know what could be on the other side.

THE TELLING

A sketch. The whisper of a piece. I’m going to populate the background with all sorts of shadowy figures.

IF YOU LOVE IT...

A little sketch I did while I was waiting for someone last night at Union Hall. Colored today in p-shop. I wonder if it will come back. . .

ASTROMAKEOUT!

By the year 2020 our fine administration plans to return to the moon with the intent of creating a MOONBASE. This is probably very awesome. It makes me wonder A: What does the inside of a space helmet taste like? B: Will Barry Bonds get to go to the moon? He could probably hit himself there. Right now. Its COLD in space Barry, wear your jacket.

KIRBY BALL

Kirby-Ball! A Kirby inspired astronaut. This originally began as a commissioned piece, but was rejected and then finished off for my own purposes.

AFTER TAXES

This is a SLIGHTLY more caveman version of me finding out how much I owe to the Man. This past year the IRS bent me over and took and took.

Nevis

This is a quick sketch from the kitchen table of where my family and I stayed on the island of Nevis in the West Indies. I added color in Photoshop once I got back state side.

What goes around....

Killings
(Pencil, digital)

Its not that I'm in a violent mood. Its more of a reaction to the cycle of violence. There are bigger ideas here but, simply put, violence begets violence. The rate at which it can snowball is crazy. Anyway. Its just a sketch with possible colors layed over in p-shop. I was working on getting the gesture of the soldier's body as well as his facial expression. Miami Vice was sold out for the 325 show. . . . . . . . . . . Crockett and Tubbs know about violence.....

Main Characters
(pencil, digital)

The second installment of one-a-day is another concept piece for 5-Moons. Our hero and his sister, the main characters of the book.
